Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working model with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees.  Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

Your role in the team

 

You as the Ab Initio Developer designs, reviews and develops code for high complexity modules, participating in every stage of the software development life cycle. This position is for the support and enhancement of Ab Initio applications, including new code development and enhancements. It includes designing changes to applications, coding and testing those changes and supporting the quality control testing of the applications. It also includes incident/problem management and pro-actively identifying, addressing and monitoring any issues that occur in production environments.

 

You will have the opportunity to evaluate technical designs and data mapping documents, in partnership with architects, analysts and developers, based on user requirements. You will also utilize designs to develop accurate defect-free code as well as create, update and understand technical documentation. You will participate in code reviews, and test plan reviews and own testing for product quality all the way through the life cycle of the code.

 

You will provide input in creating detailed ETL development estimates or change requests and provide technical expertise on execution of applications, and support QC processes. Other responsibilities include enhancement, performance tuning and support of existing applications. Flexibility to collaborate with global teams across different time zones.

 

 

 

So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

 

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • A minimum of 2 years’ IT experience in a similar role
  • Hands on development experience with Ab Initio (not concepts)
  • Experience in UNIX
  • Experience in Oracle PL/SQL
  • Experience with agile product development

 

 

 

We also have some desirable criteria

 

  • Additional relational database platforms (MS-SQL, PostGres)
  • Big Data platforms (Hadoop, Scality)
  • Core Java programming experience.
