Your role in the team

 

Systems Engineering (SE) is part of the Architecture, Innovation, CompoZed and Systems Engineering organization and has the goal of enabling software engineering teams all across the enterprise see their ideas flow into production as fast as they can be coded.

 

The Systems Engineering (SE) organization is operating right at the heart of the “Affordable. Simple. Connected.” program (ASC, formerly TG) by providing key enablement tools and services to the wider software engineering community here in Allstate Technology Solutions.

 

SE has responsibility for building product and frameworks that help accelerate the software delivery process, but retaining a focus on quality first, quality always.

 

From managing the API and Event Topic catalogues for the enterprise (API Central, Event Central), bootstrapping new product and environments (Marketplace, AppFabric), supporting the software development process, monitoring code quality and governance (Polaris, Ethan/EDS, ComplianceBuddy) on through to providing a managed deployment capability (Gatekeeper), SE has the broadest of scope and technical challenges.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic developer for a role which is fully immersed in the latest technology stack.  If you have a passion for software development, experience in object-oriented programming and believe in delivering value to the toughest of customers (your fellow developers), then SE has a role for you.

 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

 

We are searching for talented and technical engineers who can help design and develop our products. The successful candidate will collaborate within the team and across engineering teams to help maintain, implement, and deliver features.

 

  • Use your technical skills and aptitude to meet/exceed delivery velocity expectations as a full stack developer
  • Build and maintain frameworks/libraries/reusable components, Applications, REST APIs, frontend and Abstraction Layers 
  • Participate in daily product stand-up, iteration planning, and retrospective meetings
  • Participate in the effort of shaping the architecture and design of the product; actively help the team in choosing the right technology and solving technical problems
  • Establish and follow continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment pipelines and practices
  • Create and update technical product documentation
  • Provide support to developers/engineers who use the team’s products

 

 

So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

 

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
  • At minimum 4 years’ software development experience; and
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React JS; and
  • Experience with testing frameworks: junit, Mockito; and
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing systems; and
  • Experience with multi-threading and asynchronous; and
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies;

 

We also have some desirable criteria

 

  • Experience with designing and developing frameworks/libraries/reusable components 
  • Experience using Git Hub and Jenkins 
  • Experience in Cloud Computing Environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)  
  • Experience in Kubernetes
  • Experience with BPMN and business process orchestration 
  • Strong desire to continue learning and growing (technical and non-technical areas).
  • Experience providing guidance and support especially for less-experienced colleagues;
  • Experience with database technologies SQL Server.
  • Experience with understanding of distributed systems, operating systems, networking, databases, security and analytics;
