Your role in the team

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to play a key role within Allstate Canada.  They will be responsible for an exciting portfolio of products supporting the Allstate Canada Finance Community.

 

The Product Owner will lead the development and implementation of the strategic product vision and objectives, ensuring the product outcomes are aligned with business objectives and strategic roadmap provided by the Product Suite Owner.  They will act as the “Voice of the Customer” to ensure the product(s) meets customer and stakeholder needs and expectations, and deliver business value through achievement of Key Performance Indicators and goals. They will be the primary business representative working on the day-to-day development and implementation of product initiatives acting as the liaison between the business stakeholders and IT resources.

 

 Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Fully understand the context, complexity, goals and needs of the product suite vision and roadmap
  • Define, in partnership with the PSO, the strategic product vision, working on business case development, opportunity and needs assessment, defining business objectives & outcomes and authoring goals & key performance indicators
  • Lead, develop and maintain the Product Backlog
  • Participate and lead, where necessary, day-to-day Agile Scrum ceremonies
  • Lead communications with internal stakeholders and vendors
  • Lead Product Implementation & Operationalization
  • Work with SCRUM Masters to plan deployments and optimize Product Team resource capacity
  • Lead the product in-take process
  • Work within and manage the product suite budget

 

 

So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

 

  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
  • At minimum 4- 5 years' experience in Product Delivery and Implementation including a minimum of 2 years as a Product Owner 
  • Experience leading project teams
  • Experience working in the Lean, Agile, SCRUM or XP methodologies
  • Have familiarity with agile management tools e.g. Jira
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems, e.g. SAP

 

The successful candidate must also demonstrate competency in:

 

  • Ability to translate technical language to business language to ensure all stakeholders have a consistent understanding
  • Ability to triage issues across multiple systems and drive technical issues to resolution
  • Excellent project management, organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal & written)
  • Proven ability to think strategically and be creative; willingness to take initiative and risks as needed
  • Grounded in measurement and analytics to inform decisions
  • Critical thinker, problem solver and change agent
  • Able to sell ideas and clearly articulate rationale, ability to influence and negotiate to ensure priorities are met
  • Comfortable taking ownership and setting priorities
  • Exceptional skills at building relationships, collaborating with others and providing a supportive environment where challenging opinions and questions are welcome 

 

 

We also have some desirable criteria

 

  • Experience in onshore/offshore model for project delivery
  • P&C insurance experience
