Your role in the team


Within the Allstate Marketing Dept., the Strategy, Analytics and Growth Engineering (SAGE) area provides fact-based analytics, research and insights to drive and influence decision-making that supports growth platforms for marketing, customer experience and new products and services.  The Marketing analytics group is responsible for using data to make decisions, which includes the development of frameworks and models that are leveraged to optimize marketing programs, drive efficiency, and create action from analytic insights.  Our mission is to use data and analytics to decode how Allstate brand, audience development, message, content, and execution vehicles are all working together to engage prospect and current customers.  We are a results-driven, passionate, and inquisitive group of analytic professionals that are developing marketing analytic solutions for our interconnected world.


We are looking for a Data Engineer to work in the SAGE Data Engineering Team. This role is responsible for the use and development of data infrastructure projects & proof of concept business solutions for users in analytics and Data Science. This person works directly with data scientists and analytic engineers on needs and tactical solutions. This role will execute new data engineering work tracks for Data Science and analytics from inception and prototyping to fully developed solutions.


Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)


  • Work with Data Scientists and business partners on cross functional teams; developing subject matter expertise in the business as well as advanced analytics.
  • Provide support on requirement development for analytic data sources, breaking down business problems into solvable components and assist with documenting requirements with minimal supervision.
  • Execute rapid development of new data and analytic work tracks with fast iteration over quick sprints
  • Help develop and deliver the data infrastructure required to support needs of predictive modeling and analytics with minimal supervision.
  • Builds test scripts, executes testing, works with data scientists and business to ensure end user acceptance
  • Leverage “agile” data analysis with technology fluency in parallel processing/programming, software/programming languages and technologies (i.e. Oracle, SQL, Python, Spark, Scality and Dremio), paired with a high degree of analytic agility to be able to meet fluid and dynamic business needs in this space. 
  • Participate in the development of enterprise data assets, information platforms or data spaces designed for exploring and understanding the data.
  • Collaborate with other team members in a business technical environment and promote an environment that supports innovation and process improvement





So, what are the essential criteria to apply?


  • All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK'
  • Undergrade degree in a Computer Science/Data related field or equivalent
  • Experience in at least two of the following technologies (i.e. Oracle, SQL, Python, Spark, Scality and Dremio)



We also have some desirable criteria


  • Knowledge of Digital Marketing concepts
  • Experience of connecting Power BI or Tableau with Big Data
