Your role in the team

 

The Allstate Canada Group is looking for a technical Product Delivery Manager to join our Corporate Services technology team and be responsible for delivering and managing the lifecycle of multiple, business critical, vendor products relating to Finance & Investment technology.

 

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Services Technology, the Product Delivery Manager will be accountable for discovery, planning, and delivery of technology solutions in support of core business functions such as financial, investment and corporate compliance. The Product Delivery Manager will be responsible for the support, health maintenance, risk remediation, and corporate & regulatory compliance of such technology.

 

In collaboration with Product Owner, you will ensure KPIs reflecting customer value and business benefits are available and updated.  In working with Scrum Master and Product Delivery team, you will ensure the metrics reflecting team performance and improvement are well identified and utilized.

 

The Product Delivery Manager is responsible for coaching and mentoring team members through the adoption of Agile framework.   You will work closely with technology teams and business partners to ensure the successful definition and execution of go-to market and communications strategies.

 

The Product Delivery Manager requires keen understanding of IT technologies, Agile framework, systems development lifecycle, and technical architectures pertaining to the area.

 

 

  • Collaborate in creating, driving and executing product strategy for technology in the Corporate Services product suite.
  • Engage in discovery/test & learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and business direction and product strategy.
  • Be a champion for agile process within the organization; lead and facilitate Agile adoption within Allstate Canada.
  • Manages one or more product delivery teams (Scrum Masters, Developers).
  • Take ownership of the technology solution delivery and lead technical personnel to provide input to design (functional & non-functional) and architecture, and track & resolve technical issues during build and test phases through to operational support.
  • Provide guidance and support to Scrum Master on the various agile aspects like Scrum, Kanban, TDD, FDD, XP etc.
  • Provide support and drive collaboration in cross-functional development and systems integrated products.
  • Define and manage team performance metrics to measure the success of your team effort.
  • Support the definition of KPIs in tracking business benefits and customer value.
  • Identify and set up organization structure, development & training plan for all team members.
  • Works effectively across technology & business organizations and apply sound judgement in customer relationship management.
  • Respond to internal and external audit and regulatory requests and drive & support necessary resolution steps through to closure.
  • Manage team members’ onboarding/off-boarding, including ensuring correct application and access permissions are maintained.
  • Coach and mentor members of the team as well as members of the cross-functional technology organization on how to collaborate and conduct idea generation, consumer research, design, execution, test, implementation, rollout through to operational support.

 

 

 

So, what are the essential criteria to apply?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent related experience.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technical role with previous experience leading or mentoring technical teams; or have completed the Aspire Program in lieu of leadership experience
  • Solid experience in working with global teams across multiple time zones.
  • Solid understanding of the Agile Scrum and Kanban framework.
  • Experience in working with Software / Vendors and working knowledge with software product release management.
  • Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to Product Owner & technical teams.
  • Understanding of web and interface development of custom applications using one or more development languages or tools (e.g. Java, .NET, SSIS/SSAS…etc.)
  • Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate in our product space.
  • Have familiarity with agile project management tools like Jira, Confluence…etc.
  • Ability to triage issues across multiple systems and drive technical issues to resolution.
  • Ability to lead by influence up, down, and across an organization strong management or project lead experience required.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you had the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals.
  • Designation in Agile framework, project management, ITIL, Insurance space.
