Job Description

 

This is an opportunity join the Flight Test Data Services team as a senior ETL (Ab Initio) developer. This team provides an obfuscation service for Enterprise applications in the lower environments. Security initiatives within the enterprise have highlighted the urgent need for data obfuscation on Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data.

 

The specific role that will be filled is multi-functional, requiring a blend of mainly project skills but also support experience is important. As mentioned above, the core ETL product used is Ab Initio running on Linux. As a senior developer you would be expected to take technical ownership of several of the teams’ applications and be responsible for obfuscation rules using DML, either as an individual or leading a small team of junior developers. You would also design, build, deploy and maintain new applications.

 

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

 

  • Design and build ETL applications based on existing templates, primarily to provide a “golden copy” of production data populated with obfuscated PII.
  • Create and improve technical processes within projects.
  • Set up and monitor data refresh and obfuscation schedules and can modify graphs/jobs/schedules to enhance performance.
  • Need to be able to work independently without significant supervision and you must be a team-oriented individual with a results-driven attitude.
  • Can work cross functionally with a variety of internal IT organizations, DBAs, testers, other developers, external vendors and the management team.
  • Professionally deliver status updates to both management team and other project resources.
  • Provide expert technical input to project risk, dependency, change control and issue resolution discussions.
  • Lead development teams containing junior developers.
  • Mentor junior team members.

 

 

 

 

Hours of work

 

  • Standard; Mon to Fri; 9am to 5.30pm
  • Flexibility required for final team assignment

  • 3rd Level IT Degree/HND qualification.
  • 4+ years Software Development/Full Life Cycle Development Process experience, with at least two of these using any ETL toolset (preferably Ab Initio).
  • At least 2 years’ experience using the Linux/UNIX operating system
  • At least 2 years’ experience using relational databases in one or more of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or DB2.
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter who is able to work unsupervised
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing application and environmental issues
  • Be detail-oriented with an ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
  • Be forward-thinking and innovative with strong organisational and influencing skills
  • Must be an EU citizen or possess a current UK Tier 1 Visa or Tier 2 visa and eligible to take up full time, permanent employment 

 

 

 

Desirable Criteria – These criteria may be used where we have a high number of applicants

 

  • Experience in data security and knowledge of sensitive customer data or PII
  • Delphix
  • z/OS mainframe experience
  • IMS database or VSAM knowledge
  • UNIX shell scripting
  • Job scheduling
  • Understanding of database virtualisation
