The Operational Excellence Team

As a member of the Operational Excellence team, you’ll help make sure the entire Arity team is enabled and empowered to get things done! It’s our job to ensure Arity is an industry leader both in terms of the products we offer, and by the way in which we deliver and deploy them to our customers. We are one-part business - for example, contracting with customers and suppliers, and one-part risk managers - tackling tough issues like data security and privacy. Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow and support team of agilists (scrum masters, agile coaches and project/program managers) to optimize and drive software development that aligns with company priorities.  This position will work across the organization, directly and indirectly influencing all teams, to ensure we deliver efficiently and effectively, operate as an agile data driven organization, and continuously improve.  Use and analyze data and organizational metrics to identify trends, demonstrate progress and identify opportunities for the teams. Champion Agile practices and values throughout the organization.
  • Lead the company in establishing and executing an Agile Roadmap intended to grow and mature Agile Delivery in the organization.  Together with Engineering, Analytics, Product and Marketing leads, ensure all aspects of product delivery from concept through commercialization are met.  Drive continuous improvement to enable higher performing program/organizations and/or teams with improved business and customer outcomes.
  • Strategically address cross-segment productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the team goals and deliverables.  Challenge and lead organization to understand and align timelines of cross-segment and functional dependencies to minimize impact on roadmap deliverables.

  • As part of the Operational Excellence leadership team, drive development teams understanding of and commitment to meeting all legal and regulatory requirements.  Review business analysis, development and documentation work, and testing and quality assurance of all products to ensure they meet all success criteria for commercialization.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to influence and support adoption of Agile delivery practices and routines
  • Develop and deploy effective training programs and succession plans for all agilists categories (coaches, scrum masters and project/program managers)

Skills/Experience

  • 15+ years of related experience in software development including project management and business analysis
  • Technical background (engineering or computer science degree preferred)
  • Broad knowledge of software development techniques, processes, methods and best practices
  • Ability to discuss, articulate and simplify technology to non-technical audiences
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience deploying and managing agile scrum, scrum methodologies and agile coaching
  • Strong strategic decision making and planning abilities to manage resources and develop efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, drive clarity and make decisions in ambiguous situations

  • Acts as an influential leader across Allstate and Arity for all data privacy and management issues, risk processes, risk management and compliance efforts
  • Oversees comprehensive strategy for managing risk processes that span Arity and the Enterprise
  • Significantly influences and is an in-depth subject matter expert on Arity business strategies as it relates to risk mitigation, business continuity, data management and compliance
  • Analyzes long term impact of and leads teams that drive Arity product and service solutions that meet Enterprise, Arity and customer expectations
  • Understands and influences Allstate Corporate privacy, security and risk requirements and effectively apply to Arity and/or negotiate alternatives to fit Arity’s business models
  • Oversees communication with various Allstate Enterprise shared service teams regarding Arity’s compliance with Enterprise Business Conduct and Operational Risk requirements
  • Identifies strategic opportunity areas and challenges, and offers and drives solutions for continuous improvement
  • Leads multi-functional and cross-enterprise teams in understanding the link between Allstate objectives and Arity business requirements for acquisition, management and use of data, which may include liaising with Enterprise Data Council, IT and Service Business leadership
  • Achieves results by creating a high-performance environment; manages and directs staff and leaders across multiple functions of Arity Operational Excellence and multiple cross-functional teams throughout Arity and the Enterprise.
  • Provides effective, real-time performance management feedback, coaching and mentoring
