Job Summary:

The Data Science team plays a crucial role at Arity by taking raw telematics data from plug-in devices, smartphones and connected vehicles and deriving insights capable of transforming our clients’ business operations. We participate in cross-functional, self-organizing product development teams. Along with product managers, software engineers, experience designers, and other experts, we research, develop, and deploy services that delight our customers. Data Science partners to solve a wide range of difficult challenges.  These include using raw sensor data to understand the reality of what occurred at an event, trip and user level. Additionally, we leverage these core capabilities to create business insights and services tailored to customer needs.

The Insurance segment creates insights and solutions that enable our Insurance customers to leverage telematics data to achieve their goals. The analytics team creates models that evaluate an individual’s risk of getting into an accident using information about their driving behaviors. These models can then be used by our customers to determine insurance premiums more effectively and accurately for their policyholders. As the Group Analytics Lead for the Insurance segment, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring a world-class group of data scientists, data analytics engineers, and busines analytics consultants to support the Insurance segment. Some projects include:

  • Evaluating new sources of data and new modeling methodologies or approaches to develop best-in-class insurance risk assessments
  • Collecting data from multiple data sources and sensor types to create a comprehensive view of driving risk
  • Analyzing how our customers can best to implement our solutions
  • Measuring the impact of incorporating telematics information at time of quote on customer profitability and retention

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a servant leader for technical contributors in Analytics roles engaged with cross-functional product development teams through coaching and mentoring
  • Partner with Insurance segment to translate its strategic vision into priorities and tangible tracks of work using data science expertise
  • Assist Insurance segment in continuing to improve its effectiveness in operations
  • Support team efforts to enhance our culture and create strong professional development opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement of data science, data engineering practices to create world-class capabilities
  • Support sales and customer success efforts by demonstrating Arity analytics maturity coupled with humility and empathy
  • Influence product strategy from a strong analytics lens while having a key voice in the analytics operations at Arity
  • Build the Arity brand by engaging in conferences, meetups, blogs, and other external public engagements
  • Drive recruiting by leading efforts to build relationships in the industry, attend career fairs and create strong interviewing pipelines

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering, or in a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of industrial experience in data analytics and engineering, with at least 2 years working in Insurance. An ACAS or FCAS designation is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of insurance pricing, business intelligence, data engineering, machine learning, or other analytics experience in a business context, as well as hands-on experience using machine learning/data engineering/BI tools such as Python, Spark, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience managing technical teams including data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts
  • Experience leading end-to-end data science projects to generate measurable business values
  • Experience building end-to-end (real-time) monitoring systems to achieve data quality
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results on cross-functional projects
  • Ability to envision and articulate radical change through Highly innovative thought leadership
  • Inspires, mentors, and enables team to be bold and deliver high quality work
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with high ambiguity; inspires others to embrace these conditions
  • Proven champion of agile product development practices
  • Respected by peers for their technical prowess
  • Strong interpersonal communicator and collaborator with both technical and non-technical team members

Compensation offered for this role is $123,000.00-$169,500.00 per year and is based on experience and qualifications.
