UX at Allstate

We’re a large and well-respected digital design organization of 115+ passionate UX designers, content designers, researchers, visual designers, and design program managers led by our VP UX, and we’ll be growing by 40% in 2022! Job Summary:

As a strategic design aesthetic lead at Allstate, the Visual Design Manaer plans for, facilitates creation of, and manages clear, consistent, and engaging high-quality digital user interfaces to drive bottom-line business results for the company. You’ll coordinate collaboration across a broad range of customer experiences and touchpoints, including branded websites, application and product development, e-commerce, iOS, Android, web responsive, email and other digital content and software. You are the expert as well as a resource and mentor for other visual design team members.

The Visual Design Manager also supports Allstate’s overall brand objectives by ensuring accessible design consistency, and by communicating brand values and the Allstate design language through every stage of the customer journey. You’ll be an expert at leveraging typography, color, iconography, illustration, digital imagery, motion and layout design into an enterprise-wide consistent design system. You’ll be able to identify the potential need for new design patterns when necessary.

You’ll use design thinking and keep the user at the center of everything we do when collaborating with UX Content Designers, UX Designers, and UX Researchers. You’ll work within an agile framework to create human-centered visual design solutions that utilize customer insights, data, legal and stakeholder input.

All applicants should provide work samples, with proper consideration of copyright restrictions. The applicant should be able to speak to their design philosophy and be aware of design trends. Applicants who cannot provide work samples will not be considered.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with UX Designers, UX Content Designers, UX Researchers, and Technology team members to ensure design follows best practices, optimizes messaging, and is technically feasible; collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure business goals are met
  • Partner with outside vendors, as needed, for visual design to ensure consistency with digital brand guidelines and optimized formatting of assets
  • Create and/or present mood boards, visual design comps, and other design deliverables to both internal and client teams, educating teams on the design process and rationale behind solutions
  • Produce or oversee production of all necessary design elements, assets, templates, graphics, etc. to ensure design consistency and quality across multiple digital channels
  • Assist the Director, Design & Content Platform & Quality in the execution and management of digital brand standards and style guides
  • Assist with Interpretation of the IT strategy and align resources and people to meet strategic goals in alignment with the business objectives of the organization
  • Manage a sub-area or department within a division, functional area, or group of products/services/technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience 
•    Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
•    7 or more years of related experience  
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
•    None
Functional Skills
•    A strong portfolio, demonstrating an expertise in typography, imagery, color, and visual hierarchy across a variety of digital landscapes (websites, responsive design, mobile apps, landing pages, banner ads, email campaigns, etc.)
•    Proficient with a wide range of design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite; expert in Photoshop
•    Ability to work effectively from Information Architecture and translate Wireframes into works of art
•    Experience working on large-scale, response-driven digital programs
•    Understanding capabilities and limitations of front end technologies, including CSS, HTML, and JavaScript (not expected to code)
•    Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills
•    Nice to Have Skills
•    UX or Human Factors training
•    Front-end coding skills (CSS, HTML, JavaScript)
•    Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

 

Compensation Data

The hiring range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. Offers will be commensurate with experience.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
