VP Business Development

As the VP, Business Development with Answer Financial, you will use your leadership and sales skills to grow business opportunities within the insurance space, as well as, cross-functionally with key areas within Answer to achieve success metrics. This is a leadership role responsible for maximizing customer and economic value through strong relationships, sound financial discipline, strategic solutioning, and prospecting and selling future partners from a vast arena of industries on our value proposition.



Job Purpose

The position requires business development experience and sales skills to procure new partnerships both personally and through the development of the BD team. You will work closely with the operating committee to set priorities and organizational execution. This high impact role will have a direct link to our Company objectives and requires leadership, strategic direction, and successful business development support to grow the business. Note, our Company is 100% remote.


  • Elevate the business development function by providing vision and strategic direction.
  • Ensure overall business development goals, forecasting, and planning are aligned with, and meet Company objectives.
  • Establish and implement short and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Identify and proactively develop new strategic and business development opportunities.
  • Source, cultivate, negotiate, and structure new business partnerships.
  • Optimize our lead purchase programs by balancing volume needs, company economics, business quality and continuous exploration and pursuit of available options
  • Assess opportunities and provide direction for developing successful business models.
  • Planning, development and execution of overall business development and engagement strategy.
  • Work closely with operating team to build a holistic strategy to power Answer’s profitable growth.

  • Staff, train and develop a high performing organization, establish an environment where they can operate at their best and for the team members to grow and advance in their career journeys.
  • Provide guidance to Strategic Partnerships navigating AFI legal documents including NDA, carrier agreements and lead agreements.
  • Ensure team members are maintaining accurate records of interactions with potential Partners and providing feedback.
  • Navigate skillfully in matrix environments and create buy-ins from stakeholders.

Experience & Education

  • 3-5 years of advanced level of Microsoft Excel or Tableau expertise is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in advanced data-driven analysis is required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a business development role is required.
  • 5 –10 years of experience in the Insurance industry is required.
  • Strong customer focus with ability to build strategic, high-level relationships with Answer’s client base.
  • Effective skills in leading an organization while being a collaborative member of a team.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, facilitates an atmosphere of open communication.

  • Strategic approach, meticulous attention to detail, with strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
